Prior to founding QLM Consulting in 1993, Michael McCartney business experiences included being President of ITEL, a publicly traded Fortune 500 company specializing in global equipment leasing. For the past nine years, his consulting practice has focused on RFID technology and implementation, specializing in all phases of RFID deployment and supply chain management. As a result of his participation and partnership with industry leaders and as a recognized RFID domain expert, Michael is a guiding force in communicating new developments in the RFID field. He is the creator of QLM’s RFID Stages of Excellence™ methodology for companies implementing RFID solutions.

At the 1999 Produce Marketing Association convention, Michael and his team performed the first live RFID demonstration, reading items in and out of a shopping cart passing through six read stations. In 2004, Michael was instrumental in developing the world’s first RFID Testing Center for perishables, in collaboration with C.H. Robinson and NewStar Fresh Foods. In 2005, working closely with the Danish Technological Institute, he assisted in creating the first European RFID Testing Laboratory in Copenhagen, Denmark. He is active member of EPCglobal’s Business Action Group, and was the former chair of the Produce Marketing Association’s RFID Produce Action Group. He has taught RFID classes at California Polytechnic State University and the University of Kansas for the last two years. Recently, he published a technical paper on RFID in The Journal of Packaging in conjunction with Dr. Paul Singh and Dr. Robb Clarke of the Michigan State University School of Packaging and Dr. Jay Singh of California Polytechnic State University.

Michael tutored in post-graduate International Economics at Oxford University, England, and earned a BA in Political Science from UC Berkeley. In January 2004, he received a graduate level teaching credential from the State of California.

Anna brings broad experience in the pharmaceutical/ biotech/ device industry as well as the food and beverage industry through her years at both division and corporate level for a global Japanese-owned conglomerate in the U.S. Anna steadily acquired increasingly responsible positions with M&A activity, business creation and restructuring. Included in her previous experience were responsibilities for various aspects of ethical drug and device regulatory and licensing matters. Anna also brings experience in crisis management and security issues with a background in Human Resources.

Values and mission driven, Anna is experienced in start-up projects and businesses, as well as analyzing opportunities across diverse industries, and is a proactive consultant and creative problem-solver. Anna holds a BA of International Relations from Brigham Young University.
